Three people were injured – including an elderly driver and a teenaged passenger – in a two car accident in Vance County, North Carolina on March 25 at 5:18 p.m. The accident occurred near Henderson when a 1999 Toyota was traveling south along Moody Road toward the intersection of US 158 behind a 1993 Pontiac. When the Pontiac attempted to turn right from Moody Road onto US 158, it pulled into the path of a 2000 Ford pickup truck which was going west through the intersection from US 158. The Ford pickup truck swerved to the right in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid a collision, and struck both the Pontiac and the Toyota. The 76 year old Pontiac driver, a 50 year old Pontiac passenger and a 13 year old Toyota passenger were all clearly injured. All three were transported by Vance County EMS to Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson. The Pontiac driver was cited for failure to yield. Damage to the Pontiac was estimated at $3,000; damage to the Ford, $2,000 and damage to the Toyota, $2,000.
