DURHAM, North Carolina (September 2, 2009) - The Law Office of James Scott Farrin announced today that it has donated 62 phones to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, which will convert them into 62 hours of free cell phone minutes to U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The phones were collected over the past few months as the firm switched smart phone technology to AT&T and the Apple iPhone in order to improve its ability to serve its clients and monitor their cases. Individual staff members donated their old cell phones as well.

“The Law Office of James Scott Farrin believes strongly in supporting the brave men and women in the military to whom we owe so much,” said James S. Farrin, JSF founder and president. “This is just a small way for us to begin saying ‘thank you’ to those we could never thank enough.”

The specific donation included 23 Motorola Q Smart Phones, 24 Treo’s, two Samsung Smart Phones, eight Blackberrys, seven Motorola Q phones and five Flip phones.

The Cell Phones for Soldiers program was the brainchild of two teenagers from Norwell, Mass. concerned about the high cost soldiers overseas incurred to call their loved ones back home. The donated cell phones are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers an hour of talk time for each phone donated.
