A Burlington resident driving a Chevrolet truck was charged with DWI on Sept. 15 after hitting two cars and a mailbox in a commercial parking lot in Burlington, NC.
The truck and at least one of the other cars was not drivable following the crash. The 39-year-old truck driver had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .07 percent, slightly under the legal limit. He was charged with driving while impaired and placed in jail awaiting $1,500 bond.
Like several states, North Carolina has two DWI laws, allowing a person to be charged “while under the influence of an impairing substance” or with a BAC over a .08 percent limit. The driver is being charged under this first law
This is the driver’s third DWI arrest.
