At least one person was injured in a one car accident in Surry County, North Carolina on March 19 at 10:39 p.m. The accident occurred near Mount Airy when a 1998 Ford was traveling south on Maple Hollow Road, went across the center line, off the left side of the road, through a lawn and across Oak Ridge Drive before coming to rest against the side of a tree. An 18 year old passenger was clearly injured. He was transported by Surry County EMS to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The 20 year old driver was potentially injured. He was transported by Surry County EMS to Northern Surry Hospital in Mount Airy. A 15 year old passenger was apparently uninjured and declined treatment/transport by Surry County EMS. The Ford driver was cited for careless and reckless driving. Damage to the Ford was estimated at $1,200.
