Teenager injured in Mount Airy, North Carolina car accident

At least one person was injured in a one car accident in Surry County, North Carolina on March 19 at 10:39 p.m. The accident occurred near Mount Airy when a 1998 Ford was traveling south on Maple Hollow Road, went across the center line, off the left side of the road, through a lawn and across Oak Ridge Drive before coming to rest against the side of a tree. An 18 year old passenger was clearly injured. He was transported by Surry County EMS to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The 20 year old driver was potentially injured. He was transported by Surry County EMS to Northern Surry Hospital in Mount Airy. A 15 year old passenger was apparently uninjured and declined treatment/transport by Surry County EMS.  The Ford driver was cited for careless and reckless driving. Damage to the Ford was estimated at $1,200.

Driver flees scene after one car collision in Raleigh, North Carolina

Two people were injured in a one car accident in Wake County, North Carolina on March 19 at 11:19 p.m. The accident occurred in Raleigh when a 2002 Dodge was navigating north around a winding portion of Forestville Road going toward Buffaloe Road. The driver then lost control, ran off the road to the right, struck a catch basin and overturned. The driver left the scene following the collision. Two passengers were clearly injured in the accident and remained at the scene. They were transported by Eastern Wake EMS to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Damage to the Dodge was estimated at $9,000.

Three injured, including 2 elderly, in Wilkesboro, North Carolina car accident

An elderly man was severely injured in a two car accident in Wilkes County, North Carolina on March 19 at 5:25 p.m. Two women – including an elderly woman –were also injured, but not as severely. The accident occurred near Wilkesboro when a 2006 Lincoln was making a left turn onto Country Club Road from Clubhouse Road and was struck by a 1997 Dodge which was traveling west on Country Club Road. The Dodge swerved into the eastbound lane of Country Club Road to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful. Both vehicles traveled off the south shoulder of Country Club Road and struck an embankment before coming to rest. The 84 year old Lincoln driver was seriously injured, while his 71 passenger was clearly injured. The 44 year old Dodge driver was also clearly injured. The Lincoln driver was transported by Wilkes County EMS to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The Lincoln’s passenger and the Dodge driver were transported by Wilkes County EMS to Wilkes Regional Medical Center in North Wilkesboro. Damage to the Lincoln was estimated at $15,000; damage to the Dodge, $3,500.
