Bicyclist injured after being struck by pickup truck in Windsor, North Carolina

A 49 year old bicyclist was injured after being struck by a pickup truck in Bertie County, North Carolina on March 24 at 8:04 p.m. The accident occurred near Windsor when a 1995 Dodge pickup truck and a Schwinn bicycle were both traveling north on NC 45 from Old Merry Hill Road. The pickup truck struck the bicycle, which ran off the road to the right and overturned, ejecting the bicyclist in the process. The police report noted that the bicycle rider was wearing flashing red lights in both the front and rear of his clothing. The bicyclist was clearly injured. He was transported by Bertie County EMS to Bertie Memorial Hospital in Windsor. The Dodge driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Greensboro, North Carolina man injured in car, semi truck accident in Whitsett

A 28 year old man from Greensboro was injured in a collision between a car and a tractor trailer in Guilford County, North Carolina on April 22 at 6:55 a.m. The car, truck accident occurred near Whitsett when a 2007 Petersbilt tractor trailer was parked on the shoulder off the NC 61 off ramp from Interstate 40 (I-40), and a 1995 Dodge was traveling east on the I-40 off-ramp. The front of the Dodge struck the back of the tractor trailer, causing the Dodge to catch fire. The Dodge driver was clearly injured. He was transported by Guilford County EMS to Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. The Dodge driver was charged with careless and reckless driving and driving with no operator’s license. Damage to the tractor trailer was estimated at $500; damage to the Dodge, $6,000.

Teenaged pedestrian struck by car on Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem, NC

A teenaged pedestrian was injured after being struck by an SUV in Forsyth County, North Carolina on April 23 at 3:54 p.m. The SUV was then rear-ended by a car.  The accident occurred in Winston-Salem when a 1996 Honda was traveling west on Peters Creek Parkway toward Ethel Drive behind a 1999 Dodge SUV. At that point, a 14 year old girl darted into the highway. The Dodge SUV driver was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the pedestrian, and the Honda was unable to stop in tim to avoid rear-ending the Honda. The pedestrian was clearly injured. She was transported by Forsyth County EMS to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The Dodge driver was examined onsite by Lifestar. The Honda driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
