A 63 year old woman from West End, North Carolina was severely injured in a two car accident in Lee County on March 27 at 6:40 a.m. The accident occurred near Sanford when a 1985 Chevrolet was traveling south on US 1 toward Farrell Road and struck a 2000 Ford which was parked in the roadway due to being involved in a previous wreck. According to the police report, the road was blocked due to the previous wreck and the Chevrolet driver had no choice but to rear-end the Ford. The Chevrolet driver was severely injured in the crash and was transported by Central Carolina EMS to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, North Carolina. Damage to the Chevrolet was estimated at $1,000; damage to the Ford, $1,500.
