Hit and run accident injures 4 in Charlotte, North Carolina

Four residents of Charlotte, North Carolina were injured in a hit and run accident in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on March 23 at 2 p.m. The accident occurred in Charlotte, North Carolina when a 1998 Dodge was traveling south on Sugar Creek Road and stopped for a red light at the intersection of Sugar Creek Road and Tryon Street. At this point, the Dodge was rear ended by an unknown van which passed the car on the left and fled the scene via Sugar Creek Road. The Dodge driver and her three passengers complained of pains in their legs, back or neck. One of the occupants was transported by Medic 49 to Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. Damage to the Dodge was estimated at $2,000.

Elderly man, young child, injured in Ayden, North Carolina car accident

An elderly man and a young child were both injured in a two car accident in Pitt County, North Carolina on March 23 at 5:13 p.m. An elderly woman was potentially injured in the same accident. The accident occurred near Ayden when a 2003 Acura was backing out of a private drive onto NC 102, and struck a 1996 Buick that was traveling west on NC 102 toward Norris Store Road. A 4 year old passenger in the Acura and the 79 year old Buick driver was clearly injured. A 73 year old passenger in the Buick was potentially injured. The Buick driver and his passenger were transported by Ayden Rescue EMS to University Health Systems of Eastern, North Carolina (Pitt County Memorial Hospital) in Greenville, North Carolina. The Acura driver was transported to the same hospital by Winterville Fire Rescue EMS. The Acura driver was cited for failure to yield right of way. Damage to the Acura was estimated at $5,000; damage to the Buick, $3,000.

Three vehicle accident injures at least 2 people in Wilmington, North Carolina

At least two people were injured, and four more potentially injured, in a three vehicle accident in New Hanover County, North Carolina on March 23 at 7:50 a.m. The accident occurred near Wilmington when a 2000 Toyota was traveling west on NC 133 toward Sundy Road behind a 2007 Saturn and a 2007 Goshen truck owned by Cape Fear Valley Public Transit Authority. The Toyota struck the rear of a 2007 Saturn, forcing the Saturn to strike the back of a 2007 Goshen work truck. The Toyota driver and a passenger in the Saturn were clearly injured. The Goshen truck driver, the Saturn driver, and two passengers in the Goshen truck were potentially injured. The Toyota driver and two truck passengers were transported by New Hanover County EMS to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Damage to the Goshen truck was estimated at $1,600; damage to the Saturn, $11,000 and damage to the Toyota, $8,500. The Toyota driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
