Benefits of Hiring a Car Accident Lawyer

Elizabeth Overmann traces her outlook on life back to her father, who passed away two days after she received notification that she passed the state bar exam.

Elizabeth describes her father as a real "people-person." Even while awaiting a transplant at Duke University Hospital, the staff would call upon him to cheer up depressed patients. He always had a ready smile — and candy — for the nurses.

"No matter what situation he found himself in, he found a way to bless others," Elizabeth said. "I learned from him that, even in the smallest ways, you can have a profound impact on others in how you treat them.”

Elizabeth also has a personal perspective on personal injury law, having survived a serious car-truck accident when she was 15. She was in a car driven by her brother's best friend when a tractor trailer's brakes failed and crashed into the passenger side of the vehicle.

"I saw it coming,” she said. "I can tell you about the treads on the truck's tires.”

After years of physical therapy and acupuncture, Elizabeth still has residual back and neck problems.

"As the victim of a back injury from an automobile accident, I understand first-hand what people encounter as clients,” she said.

In addition to helping people, Elizabeth says she enjoys the challenge of personal injury law.

"Each case has its own nuances,” she said. "I enjoy the challenge, I like to problem-solve.”

"For a lot of clients, the economy is taking a toll and insurance companies may take advantage of them. I shepherd people through the process to try to ensure a fair outcome and to ensure they don't get lost in the mix and are treated fairly.”

Outside of work, Elizabeth likes to spend time with her husband and young son, as well as reading, snowboarding, visiting wineries and going to the beach.
