Jennifer Shapiro - A Personal Perspective |
From the time she was a little girl, Jennifer Shapiro knew she wanted to be a lawyer – like others in her family tree.
“While growing up in North Carolina, I was constantly reminded that there have been attorneys in my family for generations,” she said. “More importantly, I was reminded of the positive impact they had on their communities through the years. It has always been my goal to have that same positive impact wherever I live and work.”
She began her career by opening her own law practice, successfully representing individuals in criminal and personal injury matters. As her career progressed, she joined a family law practice – a field she found to be personally rewarding but emotionally taxing.
Seeking a new challenge, she took a position working for a local workers’ compensation defense firm, representing employers and insurance companies in a wide variety of workers’ compensation cases. She soon realized she’d rather be on the other side of the table – helping injured workers and their families.
She has since become a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law with a keen understanding of how insurance companies view workers’ compensation claims.
“Our clients want to talk with someone they can understand and who can genuinely understand their situation,” she said.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband, who she met at Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, and their son. She also loves preparing gourmet meals for family and friends.
