On May 1, 2008, a 13-year-old Bunn Middle School student was killed in a one-car accident in Bunn, North Carolina. The boy’s mother was driving on John Winstead Road when she drove left of center, overcorrected and crashed into a fence.

Investigators said the mother was trying to avoid a dog in the road at the time of the car accident. The accident is still under investigation.
