Hickory police officer injured after high-speed car accident
Officer still in intensive care unit

On April 24, 2008, a Hickory, North Carolina police officer was in a high-speed chase with a motorcyclist when he got into a car accident. The officer lost control of his cruiser, crashing into a tree around 10:45 p.m.
Police have charged a 21-year-old man with felony speeding to elude arrest.
The police officer remains in the intensive care unit after having gone through surgery due to injuries received in the car accident.
