Tractor-trailer truck collision causes 200-gallon fuel spill
At least 50 gallons spilled into Pennsylvania river
On June 23, 2008, a tractor-trailer truck was driving on U.S. Route 30 near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, when it rear-ended another tractor-trailer truck that was stopped in traffic. The truck then went through the median into westbound lanes.
The commercial truck accident ruptured the truck’s fuel tank, which had just been filled, causing about 200 gallons of diesel fuel to spill onto the roadway. Authorities said between 50 gallons to 75 gallons of fuel spilled into the Susquehanna River.
The driver of the truck in the tractor-trailer truck accident was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
