On July 22, 2008, a 19-year-old man from Concord, North Carolina died at an area hospital from injuries sustained in a moped accident. The man was a passenger riding on the back of a moped when it was hit by a truck while passing through an intersection.

An investigation found the 19-year-old driver of the moped failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled into the path of the truck. The driver as charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.

The 20-year-old driver of the truck and his passenger were not injured in the truck accident.
