Commercial truck accident kills 4-year-old boy, mother
Tractor-trailer truck driver failed to slow down before truck accident
On July 28, 2008, a 38-year-old woman from Indiana and her 4-year-old son were traveling in a PT Cruiser on Interstate 65 when they slowed due to roadwork. A tractor-trailer truck that was traveling behind them failed to slow, hitting three vehicles. The truck jackknifed and dragged the woman’s car along the guardrail, pinning her and her child inside the wreckage.
The woman and her son were both airlifted to area hospitals from injuries sustained in the tractor-trailer truck accident. They were later pronounced dead. Two other people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and one was treated at the scene.
The commercial truck driver was not injured in the fatal tractor-trailer truck accident. No charges have yet been filed.
