On July 29, 2008, a tractor-trailer truck was speeding on Interstate 12 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, when it got into a truck accident. A married couple and their 7-year-old daughter were killed in the fatal commercial truck accident, while another daughter remains hospitalized.

The truck driver has since been arrested and charged with negligent injuring and reckless operation of a vehicle, and three counts of negligent homicide.
