On April 12, 2008, a 57 year old mother and her two adult daughters, ages 24 and 37, died in a fatal car accident on Business I-85 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Two infants who were traveling in the van with the Charlotte family survived the fatal car accident.

The fatal accident occurred when the mother, who was driving, tried to turn around on Business 85 by crossing the median after missing her exit. A tractor trailer carrying about 40,000 pounds of fruit then hit the side of the van, killing the three related women.
