On June 21, 2008, a 48-year-old motorcyclist was driving on U.S. Highway 64 between Yadkin College and Mocksville, North Carolina when he was hit by a cattle truck. Authorities said the truck driver failed to stop and hit the motorcycle, killing the motorcyclist.

The truck driver was treated for minor injuries sustained in the truck accident. Police will charge him with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to stop for his involvement in the motorcycle accident.

On June 14, 2008, a 51-year-old man from Fayetteville, North Carolina was driving a tractor-trailer truck on U.S. Highway 17 when he drove through the scene of a car accident, killing a volunteer firefighter and a sheriff’s deputy. The truck driver now faces two charges of misdemeanor death by vehicle and one charge of exceeding a safe speed for his role in the fatal tractor-trailer truck accident.

At the time of the truck accident, the Onslow County volunteer firefighter and sheriff’s deputy were assisting with three minor car accidents that occurred during low visibility created by a controlled burn. A second deputy was injured when the tractor-trailer truck pushed his patrol car against him.

On June 11, 2008, a 55-year-old man was driving a Mini Cooper on Creedmoor Road in Wake County, North Carolina, when he became involved in a car accident with a tractor-trailer truck. The man died at the scene from injuries sustained in the truck accident.

On June 3, 2008, a tractor-trailer truck was driving through a construction zone on Interstate 10 in Jackson County, Florida, when it veered into an emergency lane. The truck almost hit a Florida Highway Patrol cruiser, but avoided it, only to get into a truck accident with a work truck.

The work truck was a 2003 Volvo that was moving at about 10 miles per hour at the time of the truck accident. It had a large directional arrow board activated and a large orange and white collision buffer on the back. The tractor-trailer truck accident caused the truck to jackknife across eastbound lanes, and caused a fuel and oil spill.

Neither driver in the truck accident was seriously injured, but the accident caused an estimated $130,000 in damages.

An investigation into the tractor-trailer truck accident is being conducted, and charges may be pending.

On June 2, 2008, a 39-year-old St. Louis man was riding in the back of a pickup truck that was driving in a construction zone on Illinois 15 when a tractor-trailer truck hit his vehicle. The truck accident caused the man to be ejected from the back of the pickup truck.

The man was airlifted to an area hospital in critical condition, but he later died from injuries sustained in the tractor-trailer truck accident. A second man inside the pickup truck jumped out moments before the truck accident, and suffered a minor hand injury. The driver of the tractor-trailer truck was treated for possible head injuries and released.

In May 2008, a 21-year-old man pleaded no-contest to a negligent homicide charge that stemmed from his involvement in a fatal truck accident in Michigan. A 47-year-old man was killed in the truck accident, and his 55-year-old wife was seriously injured.

The fatal commercial truck accident occurred when the victims slowed or stopped to make a left turn, and were hit from behind by the tractor-trailer truck. A personal injury lawsuit has been filed against the man and his employer, A & L Steel.

On May 30, 2008, a 40-year-old man was working in a paving zone on Route 611 in Williams Township, Pennsylvania, when he was hit by a tractor-trailer truck. The man was flown to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

The 49-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer truck was not injured. The commercial truck accident is under investigation.

On May 30, 2008, a 38-year-old Chicago man was driving a tractor-trailer truck on Interstate-80 in Lake County, Indiana when he hit the back of a 2004 Dodge pickup truck. The impact of the truck accident forced the pickup across three lanes of traffic and into a concrete barrier wall, when it caught fire, killing the driver.

The driver of the tractor-trailer truck, owned by J & R Trucking, was not injured.

On May 22, 2008, a tractor-trailer truck was hauling luxury cars in Nash County, North Carolina when it got into a truck accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer truck said he was passing mile marker 136 when he heard two loud booms, then saw fire coming from the trailer and pulled to the side of the road.

The driver of the tractor-trailer truck was able to escape without harm. Eight cars, including Audis, BMWs and Mercedes, caught fire in the tractor-trailer truck accident and were either damaged or destroyed.

While authorities do not know what caused the tractor-trailer truck accident, they do not expect to file any charges against the driver.

Two people, one of them a four-year-old boy, were killed on Route 100 in Pennsylvania when their car collided with a dump truck on May 20, 2008. Both victims were pronounced dead at an area hospital from blunt force trauma resulting from the dump truck accident.

The driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries from the truck accident. Authorities said the driver of the car crossed into the oncoming lane, hitting the dump truck. Both vehicles then veered off the road. The dump truck’s fuel tank ruptured due to the impact of the truck accident, causing a minor fire.

On May 20, 2008, an 83-year-old man from Fairfield, Pennsylvania was pulling out of his driveway onto Route 711 when a tri-axle truck hit his car. The truck accident caused the man’s car to flip and hit a utility pole and pine tree.

The man was not wearing a seatbelt, and was pronounced dead at the scene of the tri-axle truck accident. The driver of the truck was uninjured. Police are still investigating the fatal truck accident, but have not filed any charges.

On May 20, 2008, a 71-year-old man in Salt Lake City, Utah was walking between the back of a commercial truck and its flatbed trailer when the driver moved the truck, causing the man to be wedged between the rear axles.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene of the commercial truck accident. The driver said he did not realize the man, who was helping to unload the truck of plaster cement, was behind the truck at the time of the truck accident. The driver of the truck has not been charged.

In May 2008, a dump truck driver was charged with vehicular homicide, a misdemeanor, after an April 2008 dump truck accident in Columbus, Ohio. A crossing guard was killed as she was trying to protect an 8-year-old boy, who was seriously injured in the truck accident.

If convicted, the dump truck driver faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Police say drugs and alcohol were not factors in the fatal dump truck accident, but the driver said he did not see the woman or the boy in the crosswalk.

In May 2008, a 57-year-old man from Pennsylvania was charged for his involvement in a fatal tractor-trailer truck accident that occurred on November 7, 2007.

The man was driving a tractor-trailer on Route 118 in Pennsylvania when he hit a sports utility vehicle (SUV), driven by a 54-year-old man from Hertford, North Carolina. The man driving the SUV was pronounced dead on the scene, and his wife was transported to an area hospital.

After the truck hit the SUV, it hit a Dodge Intrepid, injuring the driver and his passenger. The truck also hit a Chevrolet Blazer, causing minor injuries to the driver. The driver of the tractor-trailer was treated and released for injuries sustained in the car accident.

The fatal commercial truck accident closed Route 118 between Route 415 and Route 29 for several hours.

On May 18, 2008, a Mount Airy, North Carolina woman was driving on US 52 in King, North Carolina, when she hit a cow that had wandered onto the highway. While the woman was inspecting damage to her car, a semi truck hit and killed her.

The semi-driver, after the pedestrian-truck accident, lost control of his truck, got into a truck accident and died on the scene.

Highway Patrol is still determining where the cow that caused the fatal car accident and fatal truck accident came from.

On May 14, 2008, a tractor-trailer truck was driving south on the New Jersey Turnpike when it overturned, landing on the top of a car. Emergency personnel were required to free the tractor-trailer truck’s driver from the cab of the truck after the truck accident, but the man did not require medical attention.

The occupants in the car on which the truck landed also were not injured. The tractor-trailer truck was carrying a cargo of St. Pauli Girl beer.

The New Jersey state police is currently investigating the commercial truck accident.

On May 15, 2008, a man was changing a tire on the side of Interstate 91 in Wallingford, Connecticut when a FedEx truck hit the man and his wife, who was inside the car. The man was changing a tire on the passenger side of his car, standing between the guard rail and the car, at the time of the truck accident.

All three people involved in the truck accident were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with injuries.

The truck accident caused fuel and oil to spill onto the interstate, closing lanes for several hours.

On May 13, 2008, a lumber box truck accident in Topsfield, Florida caused a chain reaction with four other vehicles and injured seven people. The truck accident was caused by the driver of the lumber box truck, who failed to stop for southbound traffic on Route 1.

The truck hit the car in front of him, causing car accidents with five other vehicles. The commercial truck accident shut down traffic as firefighters and paramedics treated victims. Nine people were treated, though two refused to be transported to area hospitals.

The truck accident is still under investigation.

On May 8, 2008, a 38-year-old man was driving a delivery truck carrying medical supplies in Boston, Massachusetts when he lost control of the truck, hitting a pickup truck and four other cars and dragging a Lexus down the street before bursting into flames.

The pickup truck involved in the truck accident was pushed into a fence bordering subway tracks, and one of the Lexus’ the truck hit was pushed into a storefront window. The driver of the delivery truck and two others in the truck accident suffered from minor injuries. A woman at the scene of the truck accident said the driver thought he blacked out at the wheel.

Police will charge the delivery truck driver involved in the commercial truck accident with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in property damage, leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in personal injury and driving to endanger. His license has also been suspended.

In 1997, the man’s license was suspended after seven violations or accidents. It was suspended again in 2005, but was reinstated after he took a driver safety course.

On May 13, 2008, a 13-year-old boy was getting onto a stopped school bus in Allyn, Washington, when a Ford water truck hit the bus. The impact from the bus accident caused the boy to fall and hit his knees, and caused neck pain in the bus driver.

The 24-year-old driver of the Ford water truck failed to stop while following the bus. Troopers are investigating possible charges in the commercial truck accident.

On May 5, 2008, a tanker truck was driving in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 in Johnston County, North Carolina when it caught on fire. The truck accident occurred near the Interstate 95 interchange.

Authorities said the cab of the tanker truck, which was carrying milk, was completely burned out. The tanker truck accident caused traffic backups of up to six miles.

On May 24, 2007, a 13-year-old boy was killed by an Allied Waste recycling truck that was turning in the boy’s neighborhood as he was getting off a school bus. The driver of the Allied Waste recycling truck had just two months experience at the time of the truck accident.

The King County, Washington Sheriff’s Office investigated and deemed it an accident. At the time of the fatal truck accident, the driver was making pickups in the neighborhood, sitting in the right-hand seat.

An April 2008 journalistic investigation found that five Allied Waste workers have died since 1999.

Deaths related to Allied Waste are higher than its biggest competitor and higher than the national average, and some say the company pushes workers to drive faster. A former Allied Waste worker said there’s a constant threat of getting fired if they don’t drive fast enough.

Investigations were conducted on all five Allied Waste worker deaths by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries, and the company was cited for safety violations. One of the killed worker’s truck had brakes that were out of adjustment for days, a hazard Allied Waste knew about, but didn’t take any action to get the truck off the road.

On May 4, 2008, a tractor-trailer was involved in a truck accident with a van at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and N.C. Highway 581 in Kenly, North Carolina. The driver of the tractor-trailer truck and all three occupants in the van were transported to a nearby hospital after the tractor-trailer truck accident.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the cause of the truck accident.

On May 1, 2008, a tractor-trailer was involved in a truck accident with a car at the Mecklenburg-Gaston County line in North Carolina. The truck accident occurred at the Catawba River Bridge around 10:30 p.m.

Authorities said the truck was changing lanes when it hit a car in its blind spot. The truck accident caused the car to lose control and hit the retaining wall, where it overturned. The driver of the car was taken to Carolinas Medical Center.

Police have said they will not file any charges in the truck accident.

On April 11, 2008, a 41-year-old woman was killed when a cement truck swerved out of control, slid on a Texas highway barrier and flipped over onto the woman’s sport utility vehicle. The woman’s five-year-old daughter was seriously injured in the fatal truck accident.

Nearly one month later, the woman’s family filed a personal injury lawsuit against the company who owned the truck, Texas Industries Inc. (TXI), alleging negligence. The lawsuit named the driver of the cement truck and TXI as defendants.

The truck accident lawsuit said TXI was negligent in hiring the driver, who had a questionable driving record, and for failure to properly train and supervise the driver.

On April 28, 2008, a woman was standing on the corner of Hester Street and the Bowery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side when a tractor-trailer hit and killed her. The driver of the truck was making a turn at the time of the fatal truck accident.

On April 28, 2008, a 77-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was involved in a car accident with two commercial semi-trucks in Everett, Washington.

A semi-truck pulling a mobile home and a commercial truck hauling auto parts hit the woman’s car on Airport Road.

The driver of the passenger car was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington with serious injuries. Her condition is unknown.

The drivers of the two commercial trucks were not injured.

Authorities speculate that the woman may have cut in front of one of the commercial trucks, causing the truck accident.

On April 28, 2008, a box truck overturned in Nelson County, Virginia, and authorities say wet road conditions and low traction on the truck’s back tires caused the truck accident. The truck hydroplaned before overturning. No other vehicles were involved in the truck accident.

The 29-year-old driver of the truck was transported to University of Virginia Medical Center with minor injuries. He will be charged with reckless driving and defective equipment for his involvement in the truck accident.

On April 27, 2008, a 64-year-old truck driver was charged with negligent driving for his involvement in a fatal truck accident in Chicago, Illinois. Two pedestrians were killed and 21 people were injured in the truck accident.

The driver’s truck careened off an expressway, crashing into a Chicago Transit Authority elevated train station. The driver of the truck was briefly hospitalized after the truck accident.

On April 28, 2008, a 43-year-old bicyclist was hit and killed by a logger truck in Sanford, Oregon. Police are looking for the driver of the logger truck involved in the fatal truck accident, who left the scene. Police speculate the driver was unaware that he hit someone.

The woman riding the bicycle was not in the proper lane, police said, and her bicycle may have had faulty brakes. Police are asking anyone with information about the logger truck accident to contact the department at 1-207-324-3644.

On April 22, 2008, a tanker truck was turning onto Old Wilmington Road from N.C. Highway 87 in Cumberland County, North Carolina when it flipped. The truck accident caused the death of the driver and spilled more than 1,000 gallons of methanol onto the road.

The driver of the truck involved in the fatal tanker truck accident died at an area hospital. The truck, a Tidewater Transit truck, was shipping methanol, used in racing fuels, at the time of the fatal truck accident.

On April 12, 2008, a 57 year old mother and her two adult daughters, ages 24 and 37, died in a fatal car accident on Business I-85 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Two infants who were traveling in the van with the Charlotte family survived the fatal car accident.

The fatal accident occurred when the mother, who was driving, tried to turn around on Business 85 by crossing the median after missing her exit. A tractor trailer carrying about 40,000 pounds of fruit then hit the side of the van, killing the three related women.

On May 12, 2008, a 48-year-old man was driving a tractor-trailer truck for Somerset Food Service when it hit a Ford pick-up truck, overturned and slid into a concrete bridge pillar on Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. The driver of the tractor trailer was killed in the commercial truck accident.

According to accident reconstructionists, a Chevrolet passenger car was driving southbound on I-75, but had stopped to avoid a Chevrolet van. The Chevrolet van crossed the median into the northbound lanes and stopped.

The tractor-trailer truck and Ford pick-up truck were attempting to avoid the van. No one in the van or passenger car were injured, but a passenger in the tractor-trailer truck and the driver of the pick-up truck were taken to area hospitals with injuries sustained in the truck accident.

On April 8, 2008, a dump truck caused a car accident after running a red light in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The trucker was heading north on Creedmore Road when he failed to stop for the light. A Nissan Altima turning left onto I-540 was hit by the unyielding truck.

Police have charged the dump truck driver with running the red light in connection to the car accident.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to WakeMed with non life-threatening injuries.

On April 7, 2008, the driver of a tractor-trailer traveling Southbound on US-421 through Erwin, North Carolina temporarily blacked out and lost control of his 18-wheeler going between 55 and 60 miles per hour.

The tractor-trailer scaled an embankment, tore through the front steps to the Zion Temple Church of God of Prophecy and toppled the church’s van. The tractor-trailer also crashed into two parked cars in a resident’s carport and a dog tree before finally coming to a halt. A utility pole was also damaged in the tractor-trailer accident.

In addition, the truck’s 60 gallon fuel tank dislodged and ruptured, spilling diesel fuel on the ground. The Harnett County Environmental Health Department will continue to test the ground water for contamination.

The truck driver, who suffered only from minor injuries, has been charged with careless and reckless driving. The case remains under investigation.
