What Should I Do or Not Do?
Table of Contents: We have prepared information for those who have been recently involved in a commercial truck accident.

Introduction
Preparing to get your claim handled.
What should I do and not do?
What should I expect now?

The most important thing you should do is focus your energy on receiving proper treatment and getting well. However, after a serious commercial truck accident, usually the trucking company’s claims adjuster will immediately begin investigating the accident in an effort to defend or minimize the claim. You should not sign a medical release or authorization from any insurance carrier without speaking to an attorney. DO NOT give a statement to the trucking company or any insurance company before contacting an attorney. The trucking company and its claims adjuster may attempt to discourage you from seeking a commercial truck attorney.

We will handle the commercial trucking company and their claims adjuster for you. Among the many actions we will do to handle your 18 wheeler, semi truck, dump truck, “big rig” or tractor trailer accident claim, the following is included:

  • Obtain the police report regarding the accident.
  • Obtain statements from those that witnessed the commercial truck accident: eyewitnesses, responding officers, first responders, EMTs, ER staff and doctors.
  • Set up insurance claims.
  • Obtain video / photo documentation of evidence: Scene, vehicles, damages, injuries
  • Contact the trucking company demanding preservation and production of vital records, data recording devices (black boxes), driver logs; dispatch records, drivers personnel file, drivers qualifications, and maintenance records
  • Assist in resolving property damage.
  • Assist with health care and/or insurance issues.
  • Retain various necessary experts to include: Doctors, nurses; physical therapists, accident reconstructionists, economists, accountants, life car planners, vocational rehabilitation experts, and trucking industry experts.
  • Investigate and determine all potentially responsible parties and insurance policies.
  • Continuous contact with you to assist in all your needs.
  • Obtain all your medical records and bills.
