On May 23, 2007, Toy Century Industrial Limited of Hong Kong announced a recall of about 3,000 Soldier Boy Invincibles Transport Converters toy sets because of a lead poisoning risk. The toy action figures, sold by Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) stores, have surface paints that contain high levels of lead, which could lead to lead poisoning.
If lead is ingested by young children, it could lead to memory loss, kidney damage or permanent brain damage.
Recalled Invincibles Transport Converters toy sets were sold between August 2006 and 2007 for about $20. The model number, 88931, Universal Product Code, 6 98567 88931 4) and Soldier Bear logo are printed on the packaging. The letters “TC-ST” are printed on the back of the action figures.
Consumers should immediately remove the toys from children and return them to the nearest AAFES store for a full refund.
For more information, consumers can call AAFES at 800-866-3605 or visit the company’s website.
