Suspect fleeing police hits detective’s family’s car
On July 7, 2008, police officers in Iredell County, North Carolina observed two men doing drugs in a car, and when they approached the car, the two men fled the scene. A passenger in the car jumped from the car, while the driver continued, eventually getting into a car accident.
A woman and child, the family of a detective, were in the car involved in the car accident, and were transported to an area hospital. The driver of the fleeing car also was transported to an area hospital.
Both men face felonious charges, including driving while intoxicated (DWI) and assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer.
