Injured in the Kidde Aerospace Accident?

After two workers were found dead at the Kidde Aerospace and Defense Building in Wilson, NC on February 17, 2007, tests found carbon monoxide levels inside the room they were working in at more than 50 times the federally-designated limit. Wilson Medical Center officials said roughly 50 workers from the site were treated at the hospital as a precautionary measure and then released. The accident shut down the building until the 19th of February.

Employers in North Carolina with three or more employees are required to carry workers’ compensation insurance to cover accidents and injuries suffered by employees while on the job. Employers also have a duty to maintain a safe and secure working environment.

Contractors working on the site of an industrial accident who fail to properly train their employees on the safe and proper handling of equipment, or fail to maintain a safe working environment while on a job site, may also be liable for a worker’s injuries.
