Attorney Brooke Kemp

“I gained compassion for my clients working at a personal injury firm throughout the years. I am drawn to people’s stories, understand what they are going through, and want to help them try to regain the losses they have suffered.”

- Brooke Kemp

Interned with two NC Court of Appeals judges

Has 13 years of experience as a personal injury and medical malpractice paralegal

Graduated cum laude from North Carolina Central University School of Law

Attorney Brooke Kemp

Brooke Kemp joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2022. She started her legal career as a litigation paralegal, and after 13 years, she decided it was time to fulfill her dream of becoming an attorney.

“Everything you do in life shapes you.”

A dedicated and disciplined ballerina since the age of three, Brooke initially intended to major in Dance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Instead, she became very interested in history and legal theory through various classes she took, so she changed her major to Sociology Criminology and decided to pursue a career in law.

Brooke obtained a graduate paralegal degree at Meredith College after graduating from UNCG and then embarked on an accomplished and fulfilling career as a litigation paralegal. After 13 years, she was married with two children in grade school and found herself yearning for another challenge. Brooke decided it was time to take the next step in her legal journey and obtained her J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law, graduating cum laude and earning the school’s prestigious Book Award for the Legal Research and Writing course.

Finding her place at James Scott Farrin

In law school, Brooke interned for two North Carolina Court of Appeals judges, a private practice, and the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin. Partner Chelsea Ragan said, “Brooke proved her value to the firm and displayed her strong people and communication skills when she interned at the firm and spoke to people needing help.”

Brooke remembers being impressed by the firm’s commitment to its clients. She was intrigued to see the processes that James Scott Farrin had in place to help paralegals and attorneys try to provide the best legal representation possible. She knew she had found a firm where she could excel.

Driven to make a difference

Brooke strives to make a positive impact on others. She points to a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote as inspiring words to live by: “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” She keeps this quotation in mind as she helps clients reclaim balance in their life and try to regain the losses they have suffered.

Brooke has worked on cases resulting in settlements ranging from $5,000 to $5,000,000, and she has seen firsthand how deeply personal injuries can be felt, regardless of their size.1 She listens carefully to her clients’ struggles and stories, and she channels her compassion and drive as she fights for their rights.

“I think North Carolina is perfect.”

Brooke was born and raised in the Sandhills of North Carolina. She, her husband, daughter, and son (plus their beloved canine kids) live in Cameron, North Carolina, close to their extended family and not far from where she grew up. She appreciates the ease with which they can travel to the coast and the mountains, and she takes full advantage of living in a country setting. Brooke is an avid runner and considers running to be her “personal time.” She enjoys running long distances, both alone and with friends, and completed the Boston Marathon in 2018 (a year that it snowed and rained), She looks forward to tackling it again in the future – in better weather.

I love the staff at James Scott Farrin.
I love the staff at James Scott Farrin. They are organized, nice, [and] friendly, and they seem to be very family-oriented. I've just recently referred another client to them because I know they will take care of her. 1
