"I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in a number of different places and to have been exposed to other cultures," she said. "I have lived in many areas in the United States, including Michigan, Texas, Florida, Missouri, New York and Alabama, as well as in other countries, including Uganda and Germany."
Tara originally attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, concentrating her studies on religion and philosophy. She later transferred to Auburn University in Alabama where she completed a degree in chemistry. Her original goal was to use her knowledge of chemistry to advance the field of artistic and historic preservation.
However, Tara did a great deal of travel between her undergraduate and graduate degrees, meeting people from all walks of life. What she learned was that no matter where people live, what socioeconomic background they have, or what their life’s circumstances are, there are always people who needed an advocate. She realized then, that her calling was to be one of those advocates. So she changed direction and pursued a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
"It is my utmost goal to protect our clients from various systems which can be wrought with ways to undermine our clients and their rights. If I can successfully guide a client through difficult circumstances and help them be compensated by a system that is there to undermine them, I am thoroughly gratified.”
Outside of the office, Tara enjoys listening to live music and hiking in the mountains.
