James Scott Farrin
I grew up overseas. My father was an international businessman and our family lived in nine foreign countries: Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Mexico, England, Switzerland and France. I came to North Carolina to attend law school, where I graduated from the Duke University School of Law with honors in 1990. I began my legal career doing litigation for large companies at the prominent California firm of Irell & Manella. However prestigious the work and the firm may have been, I lacked joy and passion in representing corporate clients. I thus went to work for the Los Angeles firm of Rucker, Clarkson & McCashin. At that firm, I found meaning in helping individuals with their legal problems, and it was there that I obtained my first multi-million dollar settlement for a client.
In 1995 I decided to return to North Carolina to raise a family and build a law firm. I joined a friend as the managing attorney in a personal injury and workers’ compensation law firm in Durham for a couple of years. There I continued to find meaning in helping people get the compensation they deserved for their injuries, but would not necessarily get on their own.
I founded the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 1997. The purpose of the firm was to help as many injured people as possible receive the compensation the law provides, and to provide them with unparalleled service. The firm has since grown from the two employees and 30 clients we started with to over 100 employees and thousands of clients. We have been involved in several high profile cases that have been covered by the media, and have recovered in excess of a million dollars for some clients. I am particularly proud of the job we do on behalf of clients with serious injuries, victims of truck accidents, and clients hurt on the job in need of workers’ compensation assistance.
We have an active litigation and trial practice. We have the experience, ability and commitment to take a client’s case to court, or wherever necessary, to seek justice on their behalf. As we have grown, we have tried to stay true to our founding purpose,- combining quality representation with exceptional service. Whatever the size of someone’s case, we believe they deserve the best representation and service we can provide.
