Case Investigator (Durham)

Our law firm is actively seeking a motivated and professional candidate to join our team as a Case Investigator. This new position is being added to sustain our growth in the RDU area and help us better serve our clients. The role will be filled best by a detail-oriented person who will work to expeditiously investigate and gather evidence related to personal injury claims.

The Case Investigator Must Be Able To:

  • Photograph scenes, vehicles, products, and injuries;
  • Locate and interview witnesses;
  • Speak to and record statements with law enforcement officers;
  • Review law enforcement files, diagrams, and sketches;
  • Conduct scene measurements and investigations;
  • Maintain working relationships with law enforcement and accident reconstructionists;
  • Maintain an investigations folder;
  • Create a summary report in a timely manner;
  • Detail relevant factual information and offer applicable conclusions;
  • Learn new skills and techniques on their own;
  • Be flexible in terms of hours and ability to travel;
  • Present themselves with authority on behalf of the Firm.

The position will be based in the Durham office and will require extensive typing and documentation. Some work will be by phone, while some work will also be in the field. The Case Investigator position will be vital to establishing the viability of certain claims, so quality of work is critical.

Litigation Attorney (Charlotte)

We are looking to grow our team with a new Litigation Attorney based in our Charlotte office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drafting pleadings, briefs, memos, demand letters, and discovery requests/responses
  • Conducting legal research
  • Conducting investigative work, including locating, interviewing, and working with expert witnesses
  • Attending and covering administrative hearings, motion hearings, minor settlement hearings, WC lien hearings, and various other court appearances
  • Assist in preparation for mediations and depositions, estate and guardianship matters, and back end issues including subrogation claims, Medicaid dispute filings/hearings, structures, special needs trusts, etc.
  • Preparing for and participating in trials
  • Other attorney-level tasks as assigned

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Current license to practice law in North Carolina is REQUIRED
  • Good communication skills with an emphasis on high-quality client service
  • Ability to manage a high volume caseload in an efficient manner in a collaborative environment

Experience Requirements:

  • 1-3 years minimum of litigation experience; personal injury experience is preferred.

Bilingual Field Representative (Charlotte, Fayetteville)

There is no typical day in the life of a Field Representative. Rotating duties include the following: traveling daily to meet with clients to sign documents, notarizing documents, communicating daily to supervisor, taking pictures of clients, injuries, property damage, locate MIA's for attorneys or case managers, ensure maintenance of company vehicle and equipment, maintain sign up folders, pick up police reports, file documents for attorneys at the courthouse, and other duties as assigned.

Excellent time management skills, solid computer skills, detail oriented, trustworthiness, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are required. The candidate should enjoy being in the field as an "on the go" position to assist in whatever is needed for the success of our clients. We prefer our candidate have demonstrated sales or customer service experience. Candidate must be bilingual (English/Spanish), and current notary public is highly preferred.

Pre-Litigation Paralegal (Charlotte, Durham)

Our paralegals are some of the most important points of contact for our clients as cases progress. They are in charge of performing a number of tasks, including but not limited to the following:

  • providing excellent customer service for all clients,
  • meeting team goals,
  • managing a large volume caseload,
  • ensuring legal compliance, and
  • providing support to both a supervising attorney and the clients they serve.

A successful paralegal will be able to multitask, have attention to detail, spot issues within a case, be able to take direction and work within a set structure, and can easily adapt to a fast paced, ever-changing environment. We work in a demanding environment and expect the highest quality of work from our employees. We are seeking a candidate that is able to work independently as part of a larger team mindset, and someone who is easily able to speak and relate to clients from all backgrounds.

Our office hours vary anywhere from 8am-6pm, and we are seeking a candidate with a flexible schedule. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required. A successful candidate will be computer savvy to accommodate working in a complex case management system and be able to handle detail oriented work. Although relevant paralegal experience is preferred, we will consider high potential candidates with a demonstrated track record of professional achievement.

Litigation Assistant (Durham)

We are looking to grow our team with a new Administrative Assistant for our Litigation department. This position provides daily administrative support to a team of attorneys and paralegals.

Strong organization skills, excellent communication and phone skills, as well as solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite are required. Other duties in addition to general administrative tasks include client contact, scheduling, filing, file management, and scanning. Candidates with transcription experience are highly desired.

Legal Assistant (Durham)

This role will support a variety of other responsibilities, mostly clerical and general administrative work relating to settlement and disbursal of cases and closing files. Other general office duties will be assigned. Our ideal candidate should be comfortable following up with third parties via telephone, data entry, check processing, handling files, and organizing data, among other related tasks.

Great time management skills, solid computer skills, detail oriented, trustworthy, administrative experience, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are required. Previous law firm or personal injury experience preferred, but not required. We strongly desire a candidate that has work experience relating to detail oriented responsibilities, such as finance, accounting, real estate, or related fields.

Part-Time Operations Assistant (Durham)

We are currently searching for an energetic and dedicated individual to join us as our newest Operations Assistant. Our environment demands employees with energy and passion. This is a part-time opportunity that we have available, approximately 15-20 hours per week.

The Job Entails:

  • Inventory and ordering supplies
  • Administrative support to staff
  • Running errands
  • Mail processing.

The Job Requires:

  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Strong computer skills
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask.

Bilingual Intake Representative (Fayetteville)

Our intake representatives are the first to have an impact on our clients. They set the tone for the entire James Scott Farrin experience by thoroughly completing our intake form for each potential client. Our ideal candidate easily builds rapport with each caller. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are a must, as you will be expected to identify competent follow up questions and gather relevant information in addition to the standard provided form. You will be trained to spot potential additional cases beyond what our callers inquired about initially. There is a strong administrative aspect to this position, as you will play a part in ordering and locating police reports and maintaining client files.

Strong interview and communication skills are required for this position, as well as the ability to connect with people over the phone. This job demands strong data entry skills, attention to detail, great time management skills, and the highest degree of integrity and professionalism.

Currently, we are recruiting for a candidate that has a flexible schedule – available weekends and nights up to 10:00 pm. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required. Previous customer service, sales, or call center experience also preferred.
