Philanthropic endeavors a key part of our mission
At the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, philanthropic endeavors are not an "after-thought" but an integral part of our mission of helping injured people both directly — through legal services — and indirectly — through supporting the communities and organizations of which they are a part.
Some of the organizations listed under "firm-wide donations" may also have received funds under the firm's matching gift program, in which the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin matches the philanthropic contributions of individual employees. In addition to funds, some have received donations of needed equipment, supplies and/or volunteering of time.
American Red Cross — The American Red Cross is part of a worldwide network of organizations that offers humanitarian care to victims of war and natural disasters, as well as services in four other areas: support to military members and their families, blood collection and distribution, health and safety information, and international development.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) — The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is a nationwide organization whose mission is "to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States."
Boys and Girls Club of Sanford/Lee County — Located in Sanford, North Carolina (Lee County), the Boys and Girls Club of Sanford/Lee County strives to improves the lives of Lee County's children by promoting self-esteem, courage and positive values through the educational programs provided at its two club facilities.
Cell Phones for Soldiers — The Cell Phones for Soldiers program was the brainchild of two teenagers from Norwell, Massachusetts concerned about the high cost soldiers overseas incurred to call their loved ones back home. The donated cell phones are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers an hour of talk time for each phone donated.
Central Children's Home of North Carolina, Inc. — Located in Oxford, North Carolina (Granville County), The Central Children's Home of North Carolina provides residential group care to children and youths from age 9 to 21 who cannot remain at home due to dependency, neglect or abuse.
Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center — Located in Durham, North Carolina (Durham County), Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center provides a comprehensive array of pediatric services for children from birth to adulthood.
Durham Rescue Mission — Located in Durham, North Carolina (Durham County), the Durham Rescue Mission offers programs designed to meet the needs of the whole person, ranging from providing meals and lodging to vocational training and counseling.
Family Health Ministries — Located in Durham, North Carolina (Durham County), Family Health Ministries is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing medical, educational and other services to underserved populations in culturally-relevant ways. It manages three medical clinics in Haiti.
Greenville Community Shelters — Located in Greenville, North Carolina (Pitt County), Greenville Community Shelters serves Pitt County's poor and homeless populations through a continuum of care ranging from basic shelter to services that prevent homelessness and promote self-sufficiency.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society — The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a worldwide organization whose mission is to fund cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina — Headquartered in Morrisville, North Carolina (Wake County), The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina grants the wishes of children throughout eastern North Carolina who have life-threatening medical conditions.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) — With chapters throughout the United States and Canada, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) offers educational, victim's services and legislative advocacy programs to support its mission "to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking."
North Carolina Museum of History — Located in Raleigh, North Carolina, the North Carolina Museum of History is dedicated to creating a place where people can explore learn and enjoy programs, events and exhibitions that celebrate the state's past, present and future.
Ronald McDonald House of Durham — Located in Durham, North Carolina (Durham County), Ronald McDonald House of Durham provides a home for families while their child receives medical treatment at Duke Children's Hospital and Health Services and other local health centers.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure — Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
Triangle Mended Little Hearts — Triangle Mended Little Hearts is part of a nationwide network of support programs for parents and caregivers of children with heart defects and heart disease. It provides services to those in the Triangle area of North Carolina.
Urban Ministries of Durham — Located in Durham, North Carolina (Durham County), Urban Ministries of Durham provides food, clothing, shelter and supportive services to community members in need.
