Thank you for visiting the Wilson, North Carolina (Wilson County) page of our website. Our Wilson office exists to assist those who have experienced an NC work related injury or an NC personal injury (NC car accident, truck accident, motorcycle accident or victim of drunk driving) in or around Wilson, NC. We also assist people who have been denied Social Security disability benefits or wish to file Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) applications in NC.
The lawyers in our firm have more than 280 years of combined legal experience.
More than half of the attorneys in the Personal Injury Department have at least 10 years of legal experience, and several have 15 years or more. The team also has three members who formerly worked as defense attorneys for insurance companies, so they have seen the law from both sides.
Two of the attorneys in our Workers' Compensation Department served in the North Carolina Industrial Commission (NCIC) before joining the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin. Three are Board Certified Specialists in Workers' Compensation Law. Board Certified Specialists are recognized by the North Carolina State Bar as having special knowledge and proficiency in their practice area.
The head of our Social Security Department is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Social Security Disability Law who is fluent in both English and Spanish. Several members of the team, including a second attorney, have previous experience as examiners at Disability Determination Services (DDS). As such, they determined the merits of initial applications for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
This office serves residents of:
Wilson, North Carolina - A former tobacco town, the City of Wilson houses the largest antique market on the east coast and what many consider to be the best eastern-style barbeque in the state. This city of almost 45,000 is also the hometown of several famous residents including former North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt and Carolina Panthers NFL Defensive End Julius Peppers. In addition, Wilson is the home of the "Imagination Station" science and technology center and the North Carolina Baseball Museum. Wilson is also the location of Barton College, a 1,200-student college affiliated with the Disciples of Christ that is nationally-recognized for its programs in education, deaf education, nursing and social work. The Wilson branch of the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin is located about seven miles from Barton College. An average of 2,104 motor vehicle crashes occurred annually in the City of Wilson between 2003 and 2005 (source: NCDOT, Division of Motor Vehicles).
Bailey, North Carolina — This small town of about 680 residents (2000 Census) is the home to the Country Doctor Museum, which focuses on the history of rural health care in the United States. It was founded by a group of local women to document the important role of rural physicians. Over the decades, its collection has grown to include more than 5,000 medical artifacts, as well as historic medical texts from across the nation. In 2001, the museum became part of the Medical Foundation of East Carolina University. Through an agreement with the ECU Medical Foundation, the Museum is now managed as part of the History Collections of ECU's Laupus Library. Bailey is located in Nash County about 14 miles northeast of Wilson.
Kenly, North Carolina — This town of about 1,600 residents (2000 Census) is the home to the Tobacco Farm Life Museum. This 6,000-square foot museum was founded by a group of local families concerned that future generations wouldn't know the important role flu-cured tobacco played in the culture, economy and development of Eastern North Carolina. The museum now contains a 4,000-square-foot exhibit gallery, a restored early 20th-century farmstead and a small gift shop. The museum is part of the Johnston County Farm Heritage Trail. Kenly is located in Johnston County about 15 miles southeast of Wilson.
