Attorney Kiara Vasquez

Kiara Vasquez is a compassionate bi-lingual personal injury attorney at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin. Drawing on years of experience advocating for vulnerable communities, she is deeply committed to guiding those who feel unheard or powerless through some of life’s difficult legal challenges.

Shaped by Challenges, Driven by Purpose

For Kiara, the pursuit of justice and the value of legal representation are deeply ingrained. Her personal journey instilled in her an understanding of vulnerability as well as a strong well of resourcefulness.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Kiara was the youngest of her siblings. Her family had migrated from Guatemala, and she learned Spanish at home before English. As a young child, her parents relied on her to interpret for them, helping with tasks such as depositing checks, before they became fluent.

A pivotal moment that shaped Kiara’s career path involved her father, a factory worker, who suffered a severe head injury in an accident at work. The attorney who represented him fought to ensure that he was compensated fairly for the injury, and Kiara saw firsthand how the law can protect individuals.

Kiara also credits a nonprofit organization in Chicago which helped her family obtain their green cards and citizenship with cementing her desire to choose a career in which she could protect people’s rights, guide them through confusing systems, and give them a voice.

After her mother passed when Kiara was 10, a therapist observed her tenacity, noting that she didn’t accept setbacks when helping her father obtain state benefits. The therapist encouraged her to become an attorney, recognizing her innate strength and assertive personality.

Grounded in Education and Advocacy

Kiara moved with her father to Charlotte, North Carolina in high school and later attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, earning a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice with a minor in International Studies. She worked as an auto insurance agent throughout her undergraduate years, but never gave up on her dream to be an attorney. After graduation, she went on to earn her law degree from Charlotte School of Law.

Before joining James Scott Farrin, Kiara advocated for underserved communities in several non-profit law agencies. She was a staff attorney at the Immigration Project, and then a supervising attorney at The Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy and Carolina Immigration Law. She gained extensive knowledge of U.S. immigration law as well as experience in custody family law matters as she conducted legal research, drafted complaints and motions, and represented clients before USCIS, Immigration Court, and NC State Court.

Having gained an interest in personal injury law when externing at a PI law firm during law school, Kiara brought her considerable skills to the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2025. She leads with empathy, communicates clearly, and considers it an honor to stand up and fight for the rights of North Carolinians injured through the negligent actions of others.

Life Beyond the Law

Kiara and her husband live with their two young sons in Charlotte. She enjoys staying active — often running 5Ks with her husband, sometimes with their boys along for the ride in strollers — and the couple hopes to complete a marathon together one day. Kiara is also committed to serving her community. Looking ahead, her family hopes to visit relatives in Guatemala and El Salvador.
