“In personal injury law, it is important to be compassionate and stay focused on what is best for the client.”
LaDonna Williams joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2010 and is a Partner, dedicated personal injury attorney, and tireless advocate for the firm’s clients.
LaDonna is a native of Winston-Salem where she and her two brothers learned the value of an honest day’s work by helping out with the family residential building business. When not assisting with the bookkeeping or cleaning new houses, she nurtured her creative side by painting, singing, and playing musical instruments and fulfilled her adventurous nature by riding horses and mini bikes.
The Path to Law
LaDonna was an actively engaged and academically driven undergraduate student at Emmanuel College, a 2-year college in Georgia. She graduated with Honors and two Associate of Arts degrees – General Education and Business Administration. She also served as the dorm president and a member of the Student Government Board, the college choir, and several small choral groups. Though accomplished and driven, she was undecided about her career path.
After graduation, LaDonna accepted a position at a Winston-Salem law firm where she spent the next two decades as an instrumental office manager and legal assistant. The attorneys at the firm appreciated her dedication and hard work, recognized her potential, and encouraged her to consider a career as a lawyer. As a first step towards this, she attended Salem College’s Night Program, while continuing her full-time employment at the firm, and graduated with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology with Honors.
In 2003, she enrolled at North Carolina Central University Law School and once again jumped into academic and leadership activities with enthusiasm. She was voted by her classmates to serve as student government Student Representative, participated on competition trial teams during her 2nd and 3rd years, was a published member of the Law Journal Committee, and served as Symposium Editor of the Law Journal Board in her 3rd year.
During her last semester of law school, LaDonna interned for a federal judge in the Eastern District of North Carolina. Following graduation, she was hired for a one-year clerkship for the judge in which she accompanied him to court and prepared memorandums and orders for his review and signature.
Next, LaDonna gained litigation experience at a Raleigh personal injury law firm before finding her home at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin. She is a respected personal injury attorney and also volunteers on the firm’s Social Services Committee.
A Legal Career to Be Proud of
LaDonna’s professional affiliations include the North Carolina Bar Association and the Durham County Bar Association, and she is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina. In 2014, she served as the Auto Torts Membership Co-Chair, which is part of the Auto Torts Executive Committee for North Carolina Advocates for Justice. Her legal work earned her designation on the “Rising Star” list by Super Lawyers magazine in 2010, as well as inclusion on the Cambridge Who’s Who Executive and Professional Registry in the same year.4
Outside of work, LaDonna enjoys volunteering with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina in Raleigh, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and working in her yard.
