Attorney Sara Royster

Sara Royster is a personal injury attorney at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin. She uses her legal skills and years of social work experience to advocate for injured individuals in North Carolina.

Determined to Serve and Advocate for Others

Sara’s journey to becoming an attorney is rooted in her deep compassion for others. Growing up in western North Carolina, she recognized at a young age that some of her classmates could not afford to purchase anything at snack time, and she remembers being deeply disturbed by this inequality. These early experiences ignited within her a desire to help others, which would eventually lead her to pursue a career in child welfare and, ultimately, in law.

At home, Sara’s parents, both educators, instilled in her a love of learning and encouraged her to use what she learned to help others. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and earned a Bachelor of Social Work and then obtained a Master of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Sara was an excellent student and began a meaningful career in social work in 2008.

Sara dedicated over a decade to protecting vulnerable children, serving on the frontlines of child protective services and advocating for their rights. Ultimately, driven to make a lasting impact, Sara decided to pursue her law degree at Elon University School of Law.

Advocating for Others as an Attorney

Initially, Sara intended to continue working in child welfare law, but she found her calling in personal injury law, where she continues to advocate for those facing difficult circumstances. She enjoys leveling the playing field for her clients against large insurance corporations that often prioritize their interests over those of seriously injured people. She takes great pride in helping people navigate these challenging situations by handling the at-fault insurer for them.

According to firm Partner Michael Shepherd, “We selected Sara because of her sharp legal skills and genuine empathy and believe she’ll always strive to ensure each client feels heard and supported throughout the legal process. Her prior experience in social work can help her connect with clients on a deep level and earn their trust.”

A Proud Tar Heel

Sara is proud to be a native North Carolinian who has lived in serval cities throughout the state and “loves everything about North Carolina from the mountains to the coast!”

Outside of work, Sara cherishes spending quality time with her husband and two daughters, and they enjoy activities such as traveling, attending concerts, and hiking at local state parks. Sara is also an active member of her church and her daughters’ school PTO board and enjoys cheering her girls on at sporting events and helping out with their Girl Scouts troops.
