Attorney Sheri Bangura Banner

“I like to explain to clients what they need to do to put their best foot forward. There are so many things about insurance that are unnecessarily complicated. Once you explain it in a way that is relatable and easy to digest, then it demystifies it for them.”

Attorney Sheri Bangura

Sheri Bangura joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2021, bringing with her 16 years of insurance company experience, a desire to help others, and a belief that one must be both tenacious and flexible in life. She recognizes the importance of being true to oneself and “maintaining your path” while encountering the curves, dips, and valleys that life presents. And she applies this philosophy to both her personal life and her professional life.

“Things change, facts change. You have to have a high level of emotional intelligence. You have got to be able to adapt.”

Driven from an Early Age

As one of the first members in her family to be born in America, Sheri credits her parents for nurturing her strong work ethic, desire to succeed, and passion for fairness. Her parents emigrated from Sierra Leone in West Africa in the late 1970’s and were inspiring role models. While working as a cook and newspaper delivery person, Sheri’s mother never lost sight of her goal of becoming a nurse, and three decades later, she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Sheri developed her passion for helping others at an early age. Even as a child, she always knew she could bring about change for the good of others, whether debating the fairness of a punishment or settling playground disputes.

“I always asked questions, and I always had an explanation.”

A self-proclaimed “Beltway baby,” Sheri left the Washington, D.C. area to attend Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice with a minor in sociology. After almost a decade gaining real world work experience in the insurance industry, she graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law, cum laude, where she served as a senior editor on Law Review.

A Nuanced Perspective

Sheri brings valuable perspective to her clients at the firm. She has more that 15 years of experience as a multi-state insurance claims adjuster, where she investigated and managed litigation for a wide variety of claims. Aware of the reputation of our firm and our work with personal injury victims, she frequently referred to our television commercials to explain her role as a claims adjuster:

“I’m the person James Scott Farrin tells you not to talk to.”

After working as an attorney defending insurance companies, Sheri decided to dedicate her extensive knowledge of insurance defense matters towards helping victims instead. At the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, she has found a home where she helps clients understand the legal process and uses her skills to fight for maximum settlements for them.

Demystifying Insurance and the Law

Sheri considers it her responsibility to simplify insurance for her clients. And she certainly has the credentials to do it.

“I see this an as opportunity to help people,” she said. “I like to explain to clients what they need to do to put their best foot forward. There are so many things about insurance that are unnecessarily complicated. Once you explain it in a way that is relatable and easy to digest, then it demystifies it for them.”

Sheri has seen firsthand the confusion and agitation that accompanies a lack of understanding about the insurance claims process, so she strives to minimize this. She derives great satisfaction from helping to relieve the stress that surrounds the types of situations that typically bring clients to the firm, and she is motivated to provide relief and understanding to the families she serves.

This skill, combined with her considerable experience working for and with insurance companies, makes her a powerful advocate for her personal injury clients. Completing the trifecta is Sheri’s lifelong passion for law and justice that drives her to fight for fairness.
