Downtown Durham Gets 20 Trees to Honor JSF 20th Year

January 11th, 2018: Farrin employees celebrated the firm’s 20th anniversary by gathering together in downtown Durham to plant 20 six-foot-tall Ginkgo trees on Burch Avenue. President and Founder, James S. Farrin, who planted the first tree, said, “These trees symbolize our roots in Durham and the growth we have enjoyed, as well as our commitment to a greener future.” Our firm is big on community advocacy and social change, you can read more about it here.

U.S. Marines Visit JSF to Join Forces With Toys for Tots

November 29th, 2017: The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin and Upcycle Legal joined forces to contribute toys and financial donations to the U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots charity. Between the two companies, we have five former U.S. Marines, including Eric J. Sanchez, Gerald Jones, Marcial Harper, Rey Sosa, and Patrick McGollie. The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin Celebrates 20 Years Serving NC Personal Injury Clients

September 1st, 2017: On September 1st, 1997, the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin opened its first location in Durham. Triangle locals may remember the distinctive black and white “We Mean Business” TV commercials that launched the firm into the public eye. The firm experienced exponential growth and 10 years later led the charge in one of the largest civil-rights cases in U.S. history – a battle against the United States government, which resulted in a $1.25 billion1 settlement for more than 18,000 African American Farmers who had been discriminated against by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

August 17th, 2017: James Scott Farrin attorneys Hoyt Tessener, Barry Jennings, and Matthew Healey have been selected by their peers as a “Best Lawyer” and are listed in the 2018 “Best Lawyers in America” publication. Tessener received the designation for Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs, and Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs. Attorney Ryan Bliss Now A Board-Certified Workers Compensation Specialist

January 13th, 2017: Ryan Bliss, attorney with the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, a Durham-based personal injury firm, was recently certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a board-certified specialist in worker’s compensation law. Board certification is the highest level of specialization lawyers are able to achieve in the legal industry in North Carolina. Less than 1% of lawyers licensed in NC are board certified workers’ compensation specialists, according to figures from the North Carolina State Bar Association.

James Scott Farrin Attorney Re-elected to National Social Security Advocacy Organization

November 17th, 2016: James Scott Farrin Social Security Disability Attorney Rick Fleming was re-elected to the Board of Directors of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR) for a third term. Members elected him to represent the Fourth and D.C. Circuits. “The NOSSCR is a highly valuable organization that advocates to improve the disability determination and adjudication process. It has been my honor to serve alongside others in this worthwhile organization, and I look forward to rolling up my sleeves again this year in an effort to offer meaningful contributions to the organization and ultimately to the claimants who depend on us,” Fleming said.
