Attorney W. Andrew Haynes
Personal injury attorney Andrew Haynes joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2024. After years of working as an insurance claims adjuster, Andrew chose to apply his industry knowledge towards protecting the rights of injured people throughout North Carolina.
Andrew grew up outside of Charlotte and spent much of his childhood outdoors – camping, fishing, hunting, and trail-riding on his dirt bike. He was a strong student academically and attended East Carolina University as a first-generation college student. He initially learned about the insurance industry as a business major in his undergraduate classes at the College of Business, where he also served as a peer mentor.
Learning the Ins-and Outs of How Insurance Companies Operate
When Andrew graduated from East Carolina University, he accepted a position at a major insurance company and was introduced to the various aspects of automobile insurance claims handling as a participant in the company’s rotational management development program. After two-and-a-half years, Andrew moved to Charlotte to join another national insurance company where he continued adjusting automobile insurance claims and defending claims in mediation, arbitration, and trial in North and South Carolina.
Andrew earned his M.B.A. remotely from East Carolina University while working full-time as an auto accident litigation adjuster for an insurance company in Florida. Even after several job promotions and career advancements, he came to realize that helping injured individuals seek compensation for their harms and losses as an attorney would be a more meaningful career choice for him.
Fighting to Protect the Rights of Injured People
Towards this goal, Andrew returned to North Carolina and attended Elon University School of Law. During one of his summer internships, he assisted in a trial for a motor vehicle accident case. He recalls the sense of accomplishment he felt when his client confided that the preparation work they had done together had given her the confidence to stand up to the bullying behavior of the defense when she testified.1 Andrew knew then that he had chosen the right career path and now strives to bring that sense of security and trust to all his clients.
James Scott Farrin Partner Miriah Millis Yanez recognized Andrew’s drive and ambition when he participated in the firm’s Summer Associate Program. “Andrew worked for various insurance companies prior to attending law school and saw firsthand how some insurance companies may take advantage of injured parties entitled to compensation. He decided to go to law school so he could help represent injured individuals.”
Outside of the Office
Now living in Raleigh, Andrew finds time to explore the city’s outdoor venues and greenways. In his downtime, he also likes to exercise, travel, and play video games. Andrew’s childhood passion for dirt bikes has developed into a love of motorcycles, and he can be found riding around town and attending various rider events.
