Attorney Valentina Mejia

Valentina Mejia joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2024 as a personal injury attorney who is passionate about advocating for others and helping protect their rights.

A Drive Nurtured by Family Support

Valentina grew up in a suburb outside of Atlanta with a strong sense of the importance of family. With an Argentinian mother and Colombian father, she and her three younger siblings were fluent in both Spanish and English, spending many happy summers with aunts, uncles, and cousins in Uruguay and Argentina.

From a young age, Valentina wanted to become an attorney, and she had the determination and support to make this dream come true. She had her daughter while in college, and as her mother assisted with childcare, she persevered and graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in political science and with a certificate in legal studies.

“Having a daughter really motivates me to be the best person I can be because I know she is always watching and learning.”

After clerking at a law firm throughout undergrad, Valentina remained firm in her vision to become a lawyer. She attended the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law and excelled at her studies while seizing several leadership opportunities.

Valentina served as Clerk of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society and acted as Communications Director of the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. She was also the recipient of several law school pro bono awards, in part for assisting underserved members of the Hispanic community access needed legal services.

Applying What She Learned to Helping Others

Valentina obtained her J.D. and accepted a position at a Charlotte law firm representing clients, primarily employers and insurance companies, in civil litigation defense and workers’ compensation claims. She came to the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin because she wanted to work directly with people who have been injured and need help navigating their legal issues.

“My favorite part of work is interacting with clients and reassuring them that we will do our best to try to help them.”

Valentina enjoys communicating with new and potential clients as she explains the benefits of representation and sets clear expectations of how the firm can fight for them in their workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. She finds it especially rewarding to help Spanish-speaking individuals overcome language barriers, understand their rights, and identify potential legal solutions.

Back at Home – and Abroad

Valentina and her daughter love to travel and visit family members throughout the world. She has always maintained strong bonds with her cousins via daily group chats but loves visiting in person whether in the U.S. (Florida and Texas) or internationally (Argentina and Jamaica).

She continues to support her college by cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs during football season and working with college students aspiring to be lawyers in the UGA Mentor program. She and her daughter live in Charlotte and enjoy exploring all that the Queen City has to offer.
