Eric Haase

“I want every client to know that I tried to do the best possible job I could for them – that I fought hard for them. At the end of the day, I want clients to understand what has contributed to the outcome of their cases.”

Attorney Eric Haase (Partner)

Eric Haase joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2002 and has been a Partner of the firm since 2004. He handles a variety of serious injury claims and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. Eric was honored to serve as class counsel for the firm in the massive Black Farmers Discrimination Litigation case that helped recover more than $1.25 billion in total compensation for 15,700+ Black farmers.1,3

A Personal Connection to Injury Victims

Eric understands how unexpected events can change people’s lives. Growing up in western New York and attending the University at Buffalo Law School (State University of New York), Eric interned for a law firm located on the 60th floor of the World Trade Center.

“The tragic events of 9/11 hit very close to home for me and opened my eyes to how one’s life can change in an instant.”

This experience helps him be an empathetic guide when leading injured people and their families through the complex maze of pursuing personal injury claims.

Helping Individuals — Not Corporations

Eric’s legal philosophy is simple: Be tough, but fair; be zealous, but reasonable; be honest — and listen. One of the cases that has meant the most to him occurred early in his career when he assisted a woman who was involved in a bitter custody dispute with her ex-husband. He recalls the feeling of accomplishment when he obtained an order from the judge which benefited the family.1

Eric also spent two years litigating for insurance companies and their insured drivers. While he found the practice of insurance defense challenging, he didn’t find it to be personally satisfying. He decided he’d rather help individuals than corporations and brought his considerable legal skills and “other side” experience to the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, where he helps protect the rights of people injured through no fault of their own.

“The feeling of resolving a claim and knowing a client is pleased with the result is what provides me the most satisfaction.”1

Eric is an empathetic and committed advocate for those who need help. In addition to representing those seriously injured in auto accidents, he was instrumental in setting up the firm’s attorney referral program. The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin consults with a national network of attorneys on product liability, defective drugs, and defective products cases in an attempt to provide the best representation we can for our clients.

Actively Engaged in the Legal Community

Eric is a member of the American Association for Justice and three Bar Associations – the North Carolina Bar Association, the Durham County Bar Association, and the 16th Judicial District Bar Association. He authored and edited a chapter in the North Carolina Personal Injury Liens Manual, 2nd edition, and has been asked to speak at continuing legal education (CLE) courses.

Eric is dedicated to sharing his legal knowledge both within and outside the firm to help the injured in North Carolina receive high quality legal representation.

Back at Home

Eric first experienced North Carolina as an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After meeting his future wife during a five-year stint practicing law in Atlanta, Eric returned to N.C. and has resided in the Durham/Chapel Hill area ever since.

Eric is proud to be a Tar Heel but staunchly retains his Buffalo roots, traveling to several Bills games each year. Eric is an avid traveler in general, but on most weekends (weather permitting) you can find him on a golf course.

I would highly recommend.
[I] would highly recommend. They were very attentive, and they treated me like family. Eric was awesome and made sure everything got taken care of, and I didn't have to worry or deal with anything myself. Awesome people all around. 1

I have had a wonderful experience
I have had a wonderful experience with James Scott Farrin, despite the circumstances this accident put me through. Tiffany and attorney Haase kept me informed and updated through the whole process. I would refer them to anyone who is going through an unforeseen endeavor like I did. Thanks, James Scott Farrin ❤ 1
