“That one attorney really helped my family out when we first moved to the U.S. Because of her, I set my heart on going to law school. Seeing how one lawyer’s work can impact so many people for the rest of their lives, especially with the laws being so complicated, I hoped to one day do the same for others. And here I am.”

Attorney Juliana Vergara Duque
Julie Vergara started at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2020 handling personal injury cases. Originally from Colombia, Julie immigrated to the U.S. with her family when she was young, and is fluent in both English and Spanish. Her natural ability to listen and relate to her clients, combined with her experience helping people from all walks of life, have allowed her to excel in her legal career.
Julie was inspired to pursue law as a career because of the immigration attorney that helped her family receive U.S. citizenship.
As the first person in her family to go to college and pursue higher education, Julie was determined to do great things with the opportunities provided to her. She graduated with a B.S. in Criminology from Pennsylvania State University, and while at Wake Forest Law, she excelled in various subjects and won many awards. In particular, she was drawn to immigration, criminal, and torts, with tort law being the area of law that applies in personal injury cases.
Personal Ties with North Carolina Personal Injury
Julie’s family moved to Winston-Salem when she was accepted at Wake Forest Law, and it seemed that personal injury law was calling her name.
In the past few years, just about every member of my family has gotten injured in some type of car accident where they weren’t at fault.
After her family’s experiences with NC personal injury law, she decided to focus her career on just that. Her experience has ranged from immigration and criminal law to personal injury law, and she is eager to help North Carolinians with their potential claims after being injured by another’s negligence.
