Eric Haase — A Personal Perspective
A personal connection to injury victims
Eric Haase understands personally how unexpected events can change people's lives.
Growing up in western New York and attending the University at Buffalo Law School (State University of New York), Eric spent one summer interning for a law firm located on the 60th floor of the World Trade Center.
"The tragic events of 9/11 consequently hit very close to home for me, and opened my eyes to how one's life can change in an instant," he said.
Eric has been an attorney for more than 15 years and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He became a shareholder in the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2004 and currently represents clients in the firm's Definitive Injury Division of the Personal Injury Department.
Helping individuals — not corporations
His legal philosophy is simple: Be tough but fair; be zealous but reasonable; be honest — and listen.
One of the cases that has meant the most to him occurred early in his career when he assisted a woman who was involved in a bitter custody dispute with her ex-husband.
"When we obtained an order from the judge, I knew we had accomplished something very good for the family," he said.
His career includes two years representing insurance companies and their insured drivers. While challenging, it wasn't personally satisfying. He decided he'd rather help individuals than corporations.
"The feeling of resolving a claim and knowing a client is pleased with the result is what provides me the most satisfaction," he said.
He recently initiated an innovative referral program that provides people with information about firms who provide services outside of James Scott Farrin's practice areas.
"Our goal at the firm is to help people," he said. "Even if we don't handle the particular type of claim for which they've contacted us, we want to put them in touch with someone who can. To that end, we've created a database that is constantly updated with the names of attorneys and firms who practice in a variety of different areas of the law (as well as different geographic areas) so we are better able to provide that service."
Whether taking on a claim himself, referring it to another department at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, or utilizing the innovative outside referral program he spearheaded, Eric is dedicated to helping everyone he professionally encounters obtain the best legal representation possible.
